C'est la période de l'auto construction de la personne humaine. Grâce à son esprit absorbant l'enfant se construit, corps et âme, en intériorisant et en incarnant les caractéristiques de son environnement spécifique.

En classe, cet environnement est préparé pour l'enfant. C'est un espace de travail adapté dans lequel on lui présente un ensemble de matériels pédagogiques répartis en 4 espaces de travail :

It is the period of self-construction of the human person. Through his mind absorbing the child builds, body and soul, by internalizing and embodying the characteristics of his specific environment.

In class, this environment is prepared for the child. It is a suitable workspace in which is presented a set of teaching materials divided into 4 workspaces:

1. Vie Pratique : On trouve ici le matériel de la vie courante qui permet aux enfants une adaptation à leur environnement, qui développe leur autonomie et leur indépendance, en leur apportant estime de soi et confiance (je sais faire seul).

1. Practical life : Here we find the material of the everyday life which allows the children an adaptation to their environment, which develops their autonomy and their independence, by bringing them self-esteem and confidence (I know how to do it alone).

2. Matériel Sensoriel : L'enfant à besoin d'affiner ses perceptions sensorielles et d'affiner ses sens pour mieux appréhender le monde qui l'entoure.

2. Sensory Material : The child needs to refine his sensory perceptions and refine his senses to better apprehend the world around him.

3. Matériel de Langage : Le matériel de langage s'appuie toujours sur ce que l'enfant connaît, l'éducateur nommant de façon précise le matériel de chacune des aires de travail et ce qui entoure l'enfant. C'est un grand travail de préparation indirecte qui est fait en amont de l'écriture et de la lecture, et qui permet à l'enfant une acquisition naturelle des éléments de langage qui l'entourent.

3. Language Material : The language material is always based on what the child knows, the educator accurately naming the material in each of the work areas and around the child. It is a great work of indirect preparation which is done before writing and reading, and which allows the child a natural acquisition of the elements of language that surround him.

4. Matériel de mathématiques : Le matériel de mathématiques est avant tout une réponse aux périodes sensibles de l'enfant. L'enfant a besoin d'ordre extérieur pour s'ordonner à l'intérieur : les mathématiques représentent ainsi une nouvelle proposition pour organiser le monde. Le matériel sensoriel mathématique amène progressivement l'enfant à l'abstraction.

4. Mathematics material : Mathematics material is above all a response to sensitive periods of the child. The child needs external order to organize himself inside: mathematics thus represents a new proposal for organizing the world. The mathematical sensory material gradually brings the child to abstraction.
